Jae Son, Ph.D., Founder and CEO/CTO
Dr. Jae Son has been an entrepreneur and inventor form more than 15 years in areas ranging from software, electronics and sensor design. In addition to his business studies, Dr. Son has a Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University, and his innovations include three issued patents and 10 pending patents. While completing his dissertation on "Giving Robots the Sense of Touch," Dr. Son was unable to find a sensor that was suitable for his research so he developed his own sensor -- one that would emulate the human sense of touch. Years later, his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is fine now, but going through the diagnosis process with his mother reinforced the need for a more effective tool to aid physicians in locating and documenting breast lesions. Dr. Son's technology is the backbone of the FDA approved SureTouch Visual Mapping System for pre-mammogram exams. In addition to his many contributions to peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Son has won numerous academic awards, as well as work-related honors at both Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Hughes Space and Communications.
