MTI was founded by Dr. Jae Son, an entrepreneur and inventor. While completing his dissertation on "Giving Robots the Sense of Touch," Dr. Son was unable to find a sensor that was suitable for his research so he developed his own sensor -- one that would emulate the human sense of touch. Years later, his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is fine now, but going through the diagnosis process with his mother reinforced the need for a more effective tool to aid physicians in locating and documenting breast lesions. Dr. Son's technology is the backbone of the FDA-approved SureTouch Visual Mapping System for pre-mammogram exams.
